Colour Wheel - a splash of PINK

If you've been reading our blog you will notice that yesterday Soph did a post about the colour black. Now this was planned, and I am going to attempt to do my own posts with a new colour every day this week showing 5 items I have.
I thought I would start today with PINK because it is a lovely bright summery colour!

The first item is this pale pink linen shirt from Guess:

I have had this for aggesssss and definitely got my money's worth out of it.! It's just so comfy and because it's linen it's perfect for summer as it doesn't make me too hot. When it's colder I often wear it with a plain grey jumper and maybe something underneath it too. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

Now to my favourite pair of shoes I own:

They are from Kate Kuba and I managed to get them in the end of summer sale last year for a much cheaper price (hoorah!).  I love the sort of snakeskin effect they have and the colour is gorge.

I felt I shouldn't just include clothes etc so here is a useful object I own which happens to be pink:

Yes it's an ipod splitter! This is amazing for long car / train / plane journey's with a friend because you can listen to one person's ipod together and preserve the battery of the other! I hate the awkwardness of sharing one pair of earphones because I always end up frustrated that it keeps getting pulled out of my ear everytime I move one centimetre - therefore this is the perfect solution. I cannot remember but it was either from Paperchase or Octopus... I'm pretty sure it was quite expensive, but I think it's so worth it.

Probably the most important pink thing I own has to be a blush:

This is so old, it's called Thrrob and I bought it from benefit. It is a dusty pink shade and I could not live without it being the pale ghost I am.

Last but not least... this post would not be complete without a dress!

Now it does look a little orange in this photograph but I assure you it's not! I bought this from ASOS for a reasonable price. I just love the knitted effect, the peter pan collar (of course - my all time fave), and the detailing on the 3/4 sleeves and hem:

Look out for tomorrow's colour wheel post from me in the colour WHITE!
Enjoy the summery day!

Feb Favourites!

Hello one and all!

My dear blogmate is still on her trip in London, and has been making me incredibly jealous, what with going shopping yesterday and the One Direction concert tonight - I have therefore made her promise she will do a post on it all when she is back home with some proper internet!
I thought I would do a February Favourites post in the meantime to keep you entertained. I'm hoping to do one each month, and hopefully la blogmate will too, so you can compare and enjoy our favourites (don't get too excited). I have made a few categories (yes I have a lot of spare time), to keep it consistent and also easier for me to choose what I'll write about...

SONG

I thought it would be a nice idea to start with this so you can listen to it as you read on. This month I have been loving Valentino by Diane Birch. It just sounds so happy and summery which is a nice thing when its artic temperatures outside:

PRODUCT
My favourite product which I have been using constantly is the Jack Wills English Velvet Body Butter.

I have tried a few body butters over the years but never found a really good one that I could call a proper favourite. But this stuff is amazing... firstly it smells so nice, it's soapy but a little floral (quite a hard one to describe) and it has the perfect thickness to it. The major benefit is that it's in a large tub so you can get so much use out of it. I've been using it a lot since Christmas time and it looks like I haven't made a dent in it!

ITEM OF CLOTHING
I was in Topshop a few weeks ago when I spied these shoes...
I do not regret spending £70 on them. They are amazing... you can wear them with anything and because I am so short I can get away with wearing them in the day and not look too dressed up, whilst gaining some extra height! They are so comfortable and unlike some of my other boots they are easy to get on and off - you can't see in the photo but they do have a zip on the side so there's no need to bother with the laces.

MOVIE
Recently I thought to myself "Omg I have never seen a Marilyn Monroe movie! I will buy some!" so I had a bit of an Amazon splurge and bought about 7... I have now fallen in love with these old movies and my favourite so far is The Prince and The Showgirl. If you have seen My Week With Marilyn , The Prince and The Showgirl is the film Marilyn and Laurence Olivier are making in that movie (MWWM is such an amazing film, one of my all time favourites and what introduced me to the wonderful world of Marilyn Monroe... and Eddie Redmayne -*faints dramatically*).
I loved it so so much because it's funny, its girly, and it has some of the biggest stars of the time in it.. and it is set in London just to make it more exciting! Here's the old trailer:

If you have seen it or plan on watching it - my favourite scene is where she does a little dance infront of the sofa (it is also in My Week With Marilyn though thats obviously Michelle Williams version).

RANDOM
And in the random catagory this month, the winner is a Topshop nail polish. You will soon find out that I am a nail polish addict however I was lacking in pink shades and had been on the hunt for a while. I then came across "Daydream" when I was on a mini Topshop spree:

As with all Topshop make up products I love love love the packaging and I have to say it is quite good quality (I didn't have much experience with them before I purchased this) and the colour comes out amazingly after just one coat.
I also tried it out as half moons against a nude (Topshop - Nice n' Neutral) and it came out like this which I thought was cool (my hand looks like it belongs to a ghost because of the flash, sorry!):

And there we go.
Hope you had a good little dance to Valentino, feel inspired to watch a Marilyn Monroe movie and try out some body butter amongst other things!
Expect a post from the blog mate sometime soon, as explained above ^^^

Until next time,

Minka x

We love a nice perfume

Hello Travellers!

Thought I would get the blog moving by doing a proper post about my personal favourite scents (as in perfume and body spray etc).

So here goes...!

I have two main perfumes which I alternate between depending on where I am and what I feel like wearing. The first one is Vera Wang's "Glam Princess":

The bottle is not my favourite, I'll admit it does a look a bit tacky however I love the little crown cap.
It's probably got the strongest scent out of the perfumes I own - it's quite sweet, fruity and musky at the same time. It does fade quite quickly which is nice in a way because then it's a little more subtle, though probably not the most useful trait for a perfume to have.

The second one I wear is Marc Jacob's "Daisy":

This is such a popular perfume - If you don't own it I bet someone you know does! It is quite expensive (like most perfumes) but having said that it is so worth it as the scent stays for ages and the bottle is beautiful, it looks so pretty on a dressing table. It's a more floral one with a hit of musk and the strength is perfect. I am yet to meet someone who has said they don't like the smell of this!

When on-the-go perfume bottles are not the most handbag friendly items. BUT I have found a product which solves this problem! The company "Crazylibellule and the poppies" have invented perfumes on a stick and after doing some googling it appears they have lots of scents. I own "Les Divines Alcoves Amoureuse In Love":

It is so tiny (and therefore cute) and the packaging is so beautiful.. and according to my research you can buy it on amazon, but I bought mine in a little boutique shop quite a long time ago.
It looks a bit like a large lipbalm, and you apply it the same way (though to your wrists... not your lips!) and it smells so so nice, floral, but not over the top, it's quite rosy.
I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for something portable.

The last scent I use is a body mist. It's from PINK in a range called "PINK with a splash" and I believe there are quite a few avaliable. This is the one I own:

It's really girly yet subtle smell, quite nice to put on if you've just got out of the shower I find. It's sort of fruity floral and I love it however I prefer actual perfume to body mists, so I don't get that much use out of it.

So there you have it, hope you've enjoyed the first proper post (if you've managed to reach the end) and keep your eyes out for more!

Love,

Minka
